Designer: John Ishmael
Location: Atlanta
These clients, one a professional fine art photographer who spent the majority of their adult life traveling throughout the world, and the other with deep French heritage, wanted to find the “character and whimsy” they had fallen in love with in their first Atlanta-area home. They sought the help of Nandina after moving into another home that had “good bones,” was beautiful and functional, and was situated in a good, older neighborhood but lacked the desired character.
In order to infiltrate character in every room of the home, we let their art dictate the design. A striking red Murano glass chandelier, purchased in Europe, hangs in the dining room and is the starting point for the entire palette of the main floor. It became the perfect punch of color for a neutral design with hits of black and white throughout every room. This home is a rich reflection of every stage of their life that resulted in creating both a sophisticated and whimsical design.
