This client’s art collection served as the main inspiration for the overall design. The color and energy emitted from each piece of art became the foundation for this design plan. In order to be the best possible stewards for the art, the foyer, hallways and formal living room were treated as a gallery. All of the walls and trim were painted white to give more life and focus to the art itself, and recessed focal lighting was carefully installed to emphasize each piece of art.
It was ultimately important to the clients that the residence feels like a home for the family of four, including two teens and two adorable schnauzers, and not like a stark art museum.
The overall vision was achieved by layering in soft, comfortable seating, textures, subtle patterns and colors that didn’t compete with the art, but enhanced It. The design result achieved emits an elegant, yet livable home that is inviting and allows the occupants to curl up in any room to work, read, play, or stream something binge-worthy.
