Dominican Republic Getaway!

As the cold, rainy Atlanta weather sets-in, I thought it would be nice to revisit the glistening water and luscious gardens of the Dominican Republic!  This year my husband and I celebrated our fifth anniversary by heading to the Caribbean for a week at Paradisus Palma Real in the DR.  Our only stipulation for the trip and accommodations were good food, lots of yummy cocktails and sun, sun, sun.  So, we were delighted to arrive at our resort to find a beautiful Italian piazza lined with sparkling fountains, white marble arcades and voluptuous sculptures.  The images on the website did not do the property justice!  I was amazed to find a place that instantly transported me to a lovely Italian Villa.   Below are a few images to conjure up Italian day dreaming and to brighten a cold winter’s day.

View of the resort from the beach… I loved the Italian tile roof.  Sandstone fountains were built

through out for guests to shower and play in..

View from the main entry to the resort of the piazza and fountains.   The entire piazza was lined with 50 foot Cyprus trees…

and you can see all the way to the ocean which is glistening in the background.

The largest pool I have ever seen… it stretched around two buildings.  The columns are whirlpools with a

Moorish style cabana in the background.

My favorite sculpture on the property… I called her “Lady in Waiting.”

Super cool lounge…

A gorgeous white marble walkway with Moorish style marble quadrafoil…

Lovely Pink Flamingos roamed the property… I wanted to take one home!

I hope that brightened your day!  It did mine…

    The Mayan Riveria in Mexico.
Just an hour and half south of Cancun. A yoga lovers paradise.
Maya Tulum is a great spot, right in the middle of everything. It is a lovely little spot. Great yoga, amazing spa, yummy food.
The beach and the water are perfection.
Heading back in March – counting the days!
