Christmas at Callanwolde
What a week it has been here at Nandina Atlanta! We have scurried around preparing for and launching two show houses as well as caring for our clients and keeping store customers happy! Whew! One of the most exciting things that I had the joy of participating in was Christmas at Callanwolde! Each year designers from Atlanta are selected to deck the halls (and walls and floors) of the lovely tudor Candler Mansion for the holidays. This annual event raises money for the incredible art services that Callanwolde hosts all year long: visual arts courses, ballet classes, kindermusik classes, pottery classes, and many more. The home is open for tours from December 7-18, so get your tickets and get there now! Friday night you even get the bonus of listening to an incredible Jazz singer while you stroll through the home!
Fresca and I began planning for this show house in April when we were selected to design the Billiard Room! We loved the rich leather walls, enormous and intricate fireplace, and elegant stained glass windows. We just couldn’t wait to get started. Here are some before shots of the space.
For our design concept, we wanted to pay homage to the traditional architecture of this magnificent home, but we also wanted to have the childlike whimsy of the Christmas season as part of the decor.
We began by placing all of the beautiful furnishings in the space, and then we layered in the fun and colorful elements. Here are a few pictures of us in the process of pulling the room together!
The first day we placed most of the furniture including this awesome Vanguard sofa and these gorgeous custom pillows by our custom Nandina Workroom. They also made the precious baby ottomans you will see in some of the photos. They are the perfect size for elves or for propping up your feet after a long winter’s day. Can you spot the green one in this photo?
We finally breathed a sigh of relief on Thursday afternoon as we placed florals and the final silhouettes on the gallery wall. Even Santa came to visit! He must have heard us pouring the candy into our candy bar!
Here are some photos of the final product! What do you think? Fresca and I loved pretending to be children for this magical holiday season!
Don’t you love the reindeer painting over the mantle? A local Atlanta artist, Susan Easton Burns paints vibrant and stunning animals, and this was certainly a fabulous subject for this space. Come by our Nandina Home locations to see even more of her work! Do you think its Dancer, Prancer, or Vixen?
Aren’t these gorgeous leather Lee Industries club chairs perfect for a cozy living room? The scale was perfect for a smaller living space.
We all had a wonderful time at the opening night cocktail party! Fresca and I had fun posing with our silhouette gallery wall! Do you recognize any of these folks? Come on into Nandina Home or visit us at Callanwolde over the next 2 weeks, and we will help you deck your halls for this festive season!
See the best,
